Phillipe du Plessis (1165 – 12 November 1209) was a French crusader and the 13th Grand Master of the Knights Templar from 1201 to 1208.
In 2012, du Plessis was included in a mnemonic set in Abstergo Industries' Project Legacy.
Behind the scenes
While du Plessis was historically the 13th Grand Master of the Knights Templar, in the Assassin's Creed series, the order of succession for Templar Grand Masters is different. Following the death of Robert de Sablé, the 11th Grand Master, he is succeeded by Armand Bouchart in the games, while the position was assumed by Gilbert Horal in real life.
Given that Bouchart dies in 1193 according to Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, this leaves an eight year gap until du Plessis becomes Grand Master in 1201, during which Horal presumably leads the Templars like he did in real life. However, this would technically make Horal the 13th Grand Master and du Plessis the 14th.
