The Phantom Blade was a modification to the Hidden Blade adopted by the French Assassins. It added a firing-dart mechanism to the Hidden Blade, making it both fast and deadly at long range.[1]
Usage
The Phantom Blade could be loaded with two types of projectiles: lethal and berserk poison darts, allowing Assassins like Arno Dorian a silent kill or distraction.[2]
Trivia
- A similar device known as the "Hidden Bolt" was made by Leonardo da Vinci in the 1500s for Apprentice Francesco Vecellio. As he was not yet of the proper rank to use a Hidden Gun, the Hidden Bolt acted as a silent alternative which fired small crossbow bolts.[3]
