Antisthenes (c. 446 BCE – c. 366 BCE) was a Greek philosopher from Athens and a student of Sokrates who founded the school of Cynicism.
In the 4th century BCE, he used the Garden of Kynosarges south of Athens as a teaching spot. He later gained a student in Diogenes, who came from Sinope.[1]
