Antigonus I Monophthalmus (382 BCE – 301 BCE) was a Makedonian general who served under Alexander the Great.[1] When Alexander died, his Trident of Eden was split three ways, with Antigonus taking possession of one of its prongs and using it to found the Antigonid dynasty that ruled over much of Anatolia and northern Syria.[2] He designed a light shield that allowed for fast troop movement.[3]
