The Anthesteria was an annual major festival in Athens, Attika in ancient Greece.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra helped a hunter with his tasks, including the slaughter of goats and deliveries, in order to honor the god Dionysos.^[1]
