Parnes Hunting Grounds

The Parnes Hunting Grounds was a forested area located north of Athens in Attika, Greece.

During the Peloponnesian War, the hunting grounds were visited by the misthios Kassandra, who eliminated the lions and looted the valuables within the cave they had claimed as their den.[1]

Trivia

  • The name of the place references Mount Parnitha, which in antiquity was known as Πάρνης (Parnis/Parnes). In modern times the location is largely a national park.
