The Parachute in action.

Parachutes are tools featured in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, with the purpose of breaking Ezio Auditore da Firenze's fall from a height.

Aside from using it to slow his fall, Ezio can use the parachute to maneuver through the air. While using the parachute, he may release it at any time to drop down, and either land on horses or perform air assassinations. The parachute is square-shaped, in accordance to Leonardo da Vinci's original design, and bears a closer resemblance to modern-day paragliders than parachutes, both in its appearance and maneuverability.

As another invention of Leonardo's, it is presented to Ezio once all of Leonardo's war machines have been destroyed.

Parachutes are single-use and must thus be replenished after use. They are purchasable from Tailors, along with upgrades that allow you to carry up to 15 at once. They may be used by jumping from any point while in high profile.

Deploying a parachute while leaping off the Castel Sant'Angelo will earn the player the "Fly Like An Eagle" achievement/trophy.

Trivia

  • With precise timing, by using a parachute, Ezio can make jumps that he would not usually be able to make.
  • In real life Adrian Nicholas, a British skydiver, took the design of Leonardo da Vinci's pyramidal parachute and successfully tested it in 2000, despite scientists saying he would fail. However he took the design and built it with modern materials, so it was not technically his original design. [citation needed]
