Palazzo della Signoria

The Palazzo della Signoria (also known as the Palazzo Vecchio) was a building in central Florence, and the centre of governmental power during the Italian Renaissance. Atop the building stood a noticeably off-centre clocktower, which also served as a holding cell; the piazza that fronted the building served as a place for both market and execution. In 1476 it saw the execution of Giovanni Auditore and two of his sons; in 1498 it saw the execution of the infamous priest Girolamo Savonarola by an upset mob of Florentines.

During the Pazzi Conspiracy, Ezio Auditore pursued and assassinated Francesco de' Pazzi on the roof of the Palazzo, before allowing those loyal to the ruling Medici family to hang him from the battlements.

Trivia

• If you are far away from the Palazzo, you will see that the clocktower is not in the middle of the Palazzo roof because the clocktower was built around an existing tower.
• There is a View Point on top of the Palazzo's clocktower.
• In real life, many people who were involved with the Pazzi Conspiracy were hung from the Palazzo. In the game, they only show Francesco being hung.
• You are unable to climb up to the pinnacle height of the clocktower.
• This is the last place Ezio has a conversation with his father before Giovanni is executed.
