Publius Ovidius Naso (20 March 43 BCE – 17/18 CE), commonly known as Ovid, was a Roman poet who worked for Emperor Augustus before being disgraced and exiled. Among his works was the Metamorphoses, a long narrative poem listing 250 different myths.

During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from a book shop in Constantinople.[1]
