Ostriches (Struthio camelus) are the largest, heaviest and fastest birds found on planet Earth, with a top speed at 70 km/h.[1] Ostriches can be found in large areas of sub-Saharan Africa,[1] and, prior to the mid-20th century extinction of a particular subspecies, they could also be found in the Arabian Peninsula.[2]
