Orestes was a King of Sparta and Argos who lived during the Trojan War. He was the son of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra.

After his death, Orestes' bones were brought to Sparta from Tegea on the advice of the Delphic Oracle. A tomb was established for him in Lakonia, located near the center of Sparta; during the Peloponnesian War the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the tomb.[1]

A statue revering Orestes was raised in the agora of the Village of Gytheion.[2]
