Olynthos Fortress was a military fort located southwest of Amphipolis at the border between the regions of Roots of an Empire and Unexplored Mount Pangeon in Makedonia, Greece.
History
During the Peloponnesian War, the fort was infiltrated by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who recovered a spear which had allegedly belonged to the Greek hero Achilles. She also slew the polemarch and the captain stationed at the fort, burnt their supplies, and claimed their valuables.[1]
At the behest of Darius, Kassandra also recovered a number of documents within the fort, among them a clue to the identity of a member of the Order of Hunters branch of the Order of the Ancients.[2]
Trivia
- Though the fortress is located roughly where the polis Olynthus was, the city-state itself doesn't appear in Odyssey.
