The Naval Cannon is one of the four war machines that feature in one of the four exotic side missions given by Leonardo da Vinci that are about some of his inventions in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. One of the devices designed by Leonardo da Vinci, it is similar to a regular cannon, but projects fire balls at an arched angle in order to cause wide-ranged damage.
The cannon was placed on a small boat (which appeared to be a widened gondola with stabilizers) so that it could be piloted around a harbor in Napoli, and was used by Ezio Auditore to destroy four Templar battleships.
It is only used once throughout the single player story in the optional mission Loose Cannon, which can be replayed at any time once completed. Successfully using and destroying the machine gains the player the "Splash!" achievement.
Trivia
- It is interesting to note that this would not work in the context of the mission. The pole used to propel the craft needs to touch the bottom, so as to push along the craft. Therefore it would not work in the deep water found in the mission
