They were the most common type of soldier in the Isu garrisons, followed by the Wardens. Like the other types of soldiers used in the simulation, Vanguards are mind-controlled humans, being kept in check with Torches of Hypnos.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra encountered a large number of these enemies during her travels in the simulations.[1]
