Andania Mine was a mine located north of Messene in Messenia, Greece.
The mine and the nearby town was home to Aristomenes, a King of Messenia who was known for waging war against Sparta during the 7th century BCE. After his death, rumours emerged that his spirit haunt the region and the Spartans.
During the Peloponnesian War, the mines served as a military camp and was visited by the Spartan misthios, Kassandra.[1]
