Mary I of Scotland (1542 – 1587), also known as Mary Stuart or Mary, Queen of Scots, was Queen of Scotland from 1542 to 1567 and Queen consort of France from 1559 to 1560 through her marriage to Francis II.

In 1587, she was executed after being found guilty of plotting to assassinate Queen Elizabeth I of England. Her son, King James VI of Scotland, became King James I of England and retained his title in Scotland, thus uniting the two countries after Elizabeth had died without an heir.

In 2012, she was included in a mnemonic set in Abstergo Industries' Project Legacy.[1]
