Marie Skłodowska Curie (1867 – 1934), known simply as Marie Curie, was a Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity.
For her contributions to the radioactivity field which led to advances in medical treatment and chemistry, Marie won a Nobel Prize in Chemistry. She was also known for discovering Polonium, a chemical element which was later used as a lethal poison for assassination attempts in modern times.
