Manstone Rock

Manstone Rock is a part of the Stiperstones and known as its highest tor, in Shropshire, England.

History

In 873, the Vikings Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan and Ivarr the Boneless brought their captive, King Rhodri, towards the Stiperstones, primarily Manstone Rock. At the rock formation, Eivor witnessed Ivarr perform the execution known as a blood eagle on Rhodri. After Rhodri died from the process, Eivor started to leave but Ivarr challenged her to a fight to the death. Disturbed, Eivor rejected it, only for Ivarr to admit that he had killed Ceolbert in order to enact a battle against Rhodri and cement his title as "King Killer." Enraged, Eivor fought Ivarr in a lengthy duel and defeated him, then decided whether to grant Ivarr passage into Valhalla before carrying his body back to Caustow Castle.[1]

Through her travels, Eivor ventured through an underground cave and found a chest which she looted the chest and acquired a nickel ingot. Eivor also visited a viewpoint atop the rock's highest peak.[2]
