Lineage Discovery and Acquisition, alternatively called Lineage Research and Acquisition, is a department of Abstergo Industries responsible for locating and acquiring people whose lineages were of interest to the company. These subjects were often used in the company's initiatives dealing with genetic memory, including the Animus Project and Project Legacy.

The department has taken part in the capture of at least three people closely related to the Assassin Order: Daniel Cross (Subject 4),[1] Clay Kaczmarek (Subject 16),[2] and Desmond Miles (Subject 17).[3]

It also included a medical division, where subjects' physical and psychological health were evaluated by a medical examiner.[4]
