Königsberg is the historic German and Prussian name of the medieval city that is now Kaliningrad, Russia.[1] During World War II, the Nazis looted the Amber Room from Catherine Palace and transported its amber panels to the city[2] after the city of Pushkin was caught in the nearby siege of Saint Petersburg.[3] After Köningsberg's destruction by Allied bombers in August 1944, the Amber Room's fate was lost.[4]
