History

The Hospital of the Knights of Midsummer's Day [1] (Nossokomío lpotón) (15th century) is one of the most interesting buildings of the old city and one of the jewels of Rhodos. The construction of this building was decided by Antoine Fluvian of the River (Large Master of 1421 to 1437), but work began only three years after its death, in 1440, under the magister of Jean Bonpart de Lastic (Large Master of 1437 to 1454), and were completed only in 1489 per Pierre d' Aubusson (Large Master of 1478 to 1505). In 1522, the patients of the hospital came to assistance of the knights to push back the invasion of the Soliman sultan.
