Statue of Kali

Kali is a Hindu goddess associated with time, power, creation, and destruction, especially that of evil forces.

After her move to India, the British Assassin Evie Frye developed an interest in the goddess.[1]

Around 1873, Evie's brother, Jacob Frye came to visit her and their Indian brethren with some apprentices. Jacob, Evie and Henry Green visited a temple of Kali, along with one of Jacob's initiates, 'Jack the Lad', and they had their picture taken.[2] As a souvenir, Evie gave Jacob a statue of Kali.[1]

When Evie returned to London in 1888, she found a note Jacob had left for her inside the statue, helping her with her investigation into the Whitechapel murders. [2]
