Jumao was a pirate who served under Alonzo Batilla during the Golden Age of Piracy. Born in Isla de la Juventud, he was forced into slavery at the age of 8, along with his mother and brothers.
At some point in his life, Jumao escaped from slavery, killing the owner of the plantation where he worked. A 100,000 coin ransom was placed on his head, leading to his capture alongside Alonzo years later. Both were rescued from a Navy vessel by Olivier Levasseur, at which point they became pirates, with Jumao serving as quartermaster for Alonzo.
