Jonathan Trumbull, Sr. (1710 – 1785) was the Governor of Connecticut both before and after the American Revolution and a member of the Templar Order. He was one of the only British-appointed governors to join the Patriot cause.

Trumbull's actions in the war garnered the Assassins' suspicion, and as such, Ratonhnhaké:ton sent a group of Assassins to investigate the governor.[1] With the investigation confirming Trumbull's Templar allegiance, Ratonhnhaké:ton subsequently sent the Assassins to eliminate Trumbull, a task which proved successful in 1785.[2]
