John Wilkes Booth (May 10, 1838 – April 26, 1865) was the man who plotted and executed the murder of President Abraham Lincoln. The reason for this murder was that Lincoln allowed voting rights to recently emancipated slaves, which Booth and co-conspirators did not appreciate. After he assassinated Lincoln, he fled, eventually reaching the Garrett farm. Here, he was shot fatally in the neck by Sergeant Boston Corbett and died three hours later.
