The Isurium Aldburg was an ancient Roman fort northwest of York in Yorkshire, England. The modern town of Aldborough now occupies the site of the ruins.
Occupied by the Picts during the late 9th century, the Roman ruins was visited by the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir during her time in the shire in thr 870s. After clearing the ruins of the Picts, Eivor explored around and recovered two tungsten ingots, one from a deceased Pictish warrior and one from a treasure chest.[1]
