Israel Hands (c. 1701–c. 1724)[1] was a pirate who operated in the West Indies during the early 18th century. He served as the Edward Thatch's first mate aboard the Sea Dog's Bite from 1714[2] to 1717, and for the Queen Anne's Revenge from 1717 to November 1718.
Biography
At some point prior to September 1714, Israel Hands was part of a crew when news came of the end of the War of the Spanish Succession. The ship's captain did not want to go against the law in any way and informed the crew of that, much to their dismay at being left jobless while the captain returned to England in comfort.
