When Altair confronted Armand Bouchart in [[Templar Archive]], he reveals that Isaac Comnenus was, in fact, a Templar himself. He was the keeper of the Archive. However, he was a foolish man, and make an enemy in King Richard. The Templars had no options but to buy the island, punish Isaac (and kill him), and evacuate the Archive.

Isaac Comnenus, or Isaac Komnenos, was the ruler of Cyprus. Isaac was also a member of the Knights Templar Order. On Cyprus, he made sure that the secret Templar Archives were kept safe. He started a war with King Richard, a war he wasn't able to win. Richard claimed the island, but he quickly sold it to the Templars again, now under the rule of Armand Bouchart. Armand imprisoned, punished and later killed Isaac.
