Il Carnefice was an executioner active in the city of Rome and a member of the Templar Order.
In 1500, he forced himself on a woman, only to have her hanged. The woman's husband later mourned her death, which was noticed by Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Feeling obliged to bring justice to Il Carnefice, Ezio infiltrated his cliffside palazzo. Il Carnefice was discussing his latest kill with an associate of his, when Ezio performed an air assassination from above.[1]
With Il Carnefice dead, the executions of many innocent citizens were put to a stop.
Il Carnefice had also shown pride in his work by even saying that the woman he hanged was not his best kill.
For the multiplayer character, see Executioner.
Il Carnefice also shows up in Project Legacy in the mission 'Gallows Humor' in the first memory sequence of the Rome pack.
