The humpback whale

The Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is a species of baleen whale. Found in oceans and seas around the world, it is known for emitting complex sequences of haunting moans. The humpback is a large whale up to 19 meters (62 feet) long. They migrate from the poles to the equator seasonally and travel in pods.[1]

During the Golden Age of Piracy, the humpback whales were hunted in the Caribbean Sea by pirates such as Edward Kenway.[2] Edward's former quartermaser, Adéwalé, inherited this practice even as an Assassin of the Saint-Domingue Brotherhood.[3] The French pirate Alonzo Batilla would also hunting the whales during his adventure.[4]
