Hughes (died 1715) was a pirate and the helmsman for Captain Abel Bramah's brig, the Jacobite.

Biography

In June 1715, Hughes was piloting the Jacobite, off the coast of Cape Bonavista on the island of Cuba until the Royal Navy frigate HMS Intrigue engaged the brig in combat. Hughes died during the attack and was briefly substituted by Edward Kenway before the ship's gunpowder magazine exploded, killing everyone aboard save Kenway and the British Assassin Duncan Walpole.[1]
