In Greek mythology, Hippomedon was an Argolian champion who was one of the seven leaders who led an Argive army to retake the city of Thebes for Polynikes.

Known for his gigantic size, Hippomedon also owned a palace which was located southwest of Argos. By the Peloponnesian War, the palace had been mostly reduced to a ruin and taken over by bandits. The Spartan misthios Kassandra also explored the place.[1]
