The Hippodrome of Olympia

The Hippodrome was a hippodrome located near the Sanctuary of Olympia within the Valley of Olympia in Elis, Greece.

During the 5th century BCE the hippodrome was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra. In 428 BCE Kassandra witnessed how a Priestess of Demeter publicly shamed and accused a woman, Kallipateira, of dishonoring herself and the Olympic Games outside the hippodrome's gates.[1]
