Hippodrome was a Greek arena designed especially for racing of horses and chariots.
In 48 BCE, Lageion Hippodrome in Alexandria served as the home to several charioteer-teams, including Prasina Green and Veneta Blue.[1]
In Constantinople, there was a hippodrome that was actually built according to Roman ideas, and was therefore rather a circus.[2]
