Hippodameia was the daughter of Oinomaos, the king of Pisa, in Greek mythology.

According to the myth, Hippodameia's father was forewarned that he would die at the hands of his son-in-law. Because of this, he challenged all of Hippodameia's would-be-suitors chariot race, and killed them. This lasted until along came Pelops, who won thanks to the help of the god Poseidon.[1]
