Helena, also known as Helena Augusta or Saint Helena, (c. 247– c. 330)[1] was an empress of the Roman Empire and mother to Roman emperor Constantine I. She was revered as a saint after her death, and by the 870s, she had a church dedicated to her in Colchester, a city in Essex, England.[2]
