Helena, also known as Helena Augusta and Saint Helena, (c. 246/248 AD – c. 330)[1] was an Empress of the Roman Empire and mother of Roman emperor Constantine I. She was revered as a saint after her death, and by the 870s, she had a church dedicated to her in Colchester, a city in Essex, England.[2]
