Hassan-i Sabbāh (1050s - 1124) was the first recognized Grand Master of the Assassin Order during the late 11th and early 12th century.
Under his leadership, the Assassins became a public organisation, attempting to make the people realize they are not alone in their fight against their opressors and to make them stand up for themselves - though the Assassins' practices remained unknown.
Trivia
- Hassan made the Creed's Maxim, as well as the Order's quote, "Laa shay'a waqi'un moutlaq bale kouloun moumkine." (Nothing is true, everything is permitted.)
- The garden behind the fortress in Masyaf is mandatory for all fortresses. Hassan says that the garden itself is heaven and the Assassins will die and come to it, with the houris (females in the garden which is said to have the best beauty in the world) which is actually in the real heaven. With this, Hassan fooled the Assassins into thinking that they should not be afraid to die for they will be sent to paradise right away.
