The Governor's Villa was a villa in Lunden, serving as the residence of the city's governor during its occupation by Vikings of the Great Heathen Army.
In 873, the governor Tryggr and his men were assassinated by the Order of the Ancients members Vicelin, Frideswid, and Avgos Spearhand in the villa. Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir and Reeves Erke Bodilsson and Stowe discovered and investigated the crime scene and determined that three perpetrators were behind the attack. Eivor and the reeves decided to find and stop the assailants, permanently.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Governor's Villa is based on the actual Roman governor's palace or Praetorium of Roman Londinium. Its location is fairly accurate, however, it is incorrectly depicted on the left bank of the Walbrook river while in reality it was on its right bank.[2]
