Gorgon Slayer

The Gorgon Slayer was a spear which belonged to the 5th century BCE misthios Zetes the Retired. The spear was named for it allegedly had slain the gorgon within the Petrified Temple of Lesbos. However, instead of slaying the creature, Zetes actually used the spear to escape it, keeping it far enough from himself.

Some time after Zetes' encounter and subsequent escape, the Spartan misthios Kassandra confronted Zetes about this story. After hearing it, she demanded he hand over his spear.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Gorgon Slayer, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, shares the same model as the commonly found Handcrafted Spear, another weapon in the same game. These are both the recycled model of the Adamant Reed, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins.
