The God's Ire was a light shield marked with the frowning visage of Taranis, the Celtic god of thunder, and was said to be so terrifying that enemies would hesitate or flee at its sight.

During the Viking expansion into Anglo-Saxon England in the 9th century, the shield was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relieved her memories.[1]
