Geoffrey of Monmouth (c. 1100 – c. 1155) was a Welsh cleric. He is best remembered for his History of the Kings of Britain, a largely fictional account of the earliest British history, composed in Latin.
During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from a book shop in Constantinople.
