Alexander was a member of the Resistance on Cyprus. He was the main Cyprus contact and when Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad chased the Templars to Cyprus, he helped Altaïr out around the island, with his many contacts and his influence in the Cypriot Resistence.
Biography
After the successful attack on Acre, Altair asks a fellow Assassin (Jabal in the novel) if he has any contacts in Cyprus, which was recently annexed by the Templars. Alexander was recommended to Altair.
As soon as Altaïr entered Limassol, he made contact with Alexander, who intercepted the former, suspecting a Templar trap. After reaching the resistance safehouse, the two men then discussed the Templar presence in Limassol, and started devising a plan to break their power. Altaïr eventually infiltrated Limassol Castle, weakening the Templars' presence in the castle and learning of the Templar Archive. Altaïr also learned that, in order to gain more information on the archive, he had to seek out Frederick the Red.
Returning from his quest to slay Frederick, Altaïr found the Cypriot resistance broken, their safehouse burned down and Maria missing. After relocating Maria, he met with Alexander near the harbor, where the later chartered a ship for Altaïr, instructed him to go to Kyrenia and seek out Pasha.
Later, during Altaïr's infiltration of Buffavento Castle, Altaïr overheard a conversation between Armand Bouchart and Shalim, who discussed sending a bag to Alexander, prompting Altaïr to think of his ally as a traitor.
Upon his return to Limassol, Altaïr sought Alexander out, who immediately accused Altaïr of treachery. The two men then exchanged their stories, after which Alexander explained how the Templars abused their power. Altaïr then set out to weaken the Templars even further.
When he returned to the safehouse, he found only a note of Alexander, which held the instructions to come to the courtyard of the nearby castle. As Altaïr entered the courtyard, he immediately noticed Alexander's dead body. The Templar Agent then showed up, revealing himself to be Alexander's murderer.
Appearence & Character
Alexander sported a beard when he met Altair. He had a vaguely scruffy and unkempt look. In The Secret Crusade, he is said to wear a turban, though in the game he wears no headgear.
In the game, not much of his personality is revealed until he sees Altair after hearing false reports of the Assassin working with the Templars, when he is extremely angry and immediately blames Altair. In the novel, though, he is seen to be mischievious, for example stealing glances at Maria when they first met, and later asking her to repeat the abuse she hurls at him, because he hadn't understood them.
Throughout the Altair's stay, Alexander directs him to various individuals who might owe him favors and who might aid Altair in his mission. Altair finally concedes that, "You are a well connected man, Alexander."
