Sir Francis Drake (c. 1540 – 27 January 1596) was an English sea captain, privateer, navigator, slaver, and politician during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. He carried out the second circumnavigation of the world from 1577 to 1580.

While he was revered as a hero in England for his exploits against the Spanish Empire, Drake became known as a pirate among the Spanish.

Between 1715 and 1722, the pirate Edward Kenway collected Drake's outfit and weaponry from Sacrifice Island.
