Navassa was a fort located on a small island just off the east coast of Jamaica in the West Indies. It was controlled by the British until it was incapacitated and overrun by the pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway and his crew. It was positioned in a key channel between Jamaica and the neighboring island of Haiti, forcing ships to either sail within range of the fort or make their way around one of the two large islands.
After Kenway liberated the fort from British control, a harbormaster's station was built by the docks, where Kenway also accepted two naval contracts on behalf of the trader Milo van der Graaff.
