Biography[edit | edit source]

Ergon and the Whale Clan were in constant battle with Rig Reidarasson's clan, their neighbor to the north.[1] One spring, Ergon accused Rig's family of using black seiðr, accusations for which they were captured and burnt alive. Though Rig vowed revenge for this vile act, King Hadon, at Ergon's urging, had issued an order of exile against Rig and his lover, Solveig. The pair packed their belongings and left at dusk but snuck back into the village at night, killed Ergon, and removed his leg as a trophy.[2]
