The Engineer (real name: Gaspar de la Croix) is a multiplayer character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, whose assassination weapon of choice is a drafting Compass.

In Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, Gaspar is revealed to be a haunted man. When Fiora Cavazza is sent to pick up some of his inventions for Cesare Borgia, he asks her uncomfortable questions about death, aims an arquebus at the civilians passing his window, and disregards payment.

In the mission involving The Engineer he is firing upon a man who was starting a resistance against the Borgia. After a quick chase Ezio kills Gaspar with his hidden blade.

Customization

Colors:

• Basic: Red orange coat
  
• Extra 1: Green coat
  
• Extra 2: Navy blue coat
  
• Extra 3: Dark red coat
  

Gear:

• Advanced: Hand bag is changed to black.
  
• Superior: Black cap, black leggings, black boots, black tinted glasses, added designed forearm sleeves, added black gloves.
  
• Elite: Added black upper body clothing extending from neck to bottom of chest.

Trivia

• "De la Croix" is French for "of the Cross." This is likely a reference to his Templar affiliation. It is also possible that he is French.
• Before the launch of the Brotherhood Beta, he was referred to as "the Merchant."
• According to his Database entry in Brotherhood, his profession is labeled as "Sniper," due to his appearance in an Abstergo Agent Mission, wherein he killed a man with an arquebus from a rooftop.
• When Ezio kills Gaspar he slides his hand over his face to close his eyes even though he is wearing glasses, and the glasses don't move.
