Empedocles (c. 490 BCE - c. 430 BCE) was a Greek philosopher who lived in Greek Sicily during the 5th century BCE. He recorded his ideas in a poetic work, On Nature.

During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze retrieved a hidden copy of this book in Constantinople.

Trivia
