Ellette was an Anglo-Saxon noble lady and flyter who lived in Colcestre in Essexe during the 9th century.

Often accompanied by her servants west of the Colcestre Barracks, Ellette was challenged to a flyting duel by the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir, which was accepted by her servant. However, Ellette lost the duel and had her servant paying Eivor for the silver she had wagered.[1]
