The elixir of life is an alchemical potion that supposedly grants its consumer eternal life, the formulae of which has been long sought after by alchemists.
In the early 15th century, the French alchemist Nicolas Flamel reportedly created an elixir of life in his secret laboratory in the tunnels beneath Paris, which remained hidden there under the protection of a group of monks.[1] Eventually, it was retrieved by the Assassin Arno Dorian during the French Revolution on the request of Marie Anne Lenormand, to whom he passed on the elixir.[2]
In 1567, the Chinese Assassins arranged for the Jiajing Emperor to ingest a lethal dosage of mercury in the belief that it was the elixir of life.[3]
